The UGro Coco Block XL, 70 litres is a compressed and dehydrated block made from high-quality coco peat with coir fibres. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor growing, particularly short-term and seasonal crop cycles. Its compact format requires little storage space and makes the medium easier to transport before it is expanded when required.

Turn 5 kg into up to 70 litres of coco substrate

Place the 5 kg block in a sufficiently large container and add 18 litres of clean water. The material takes approximately 2–3 minutes to become fully hydrated. Once expanded, break it apart and loosen it thoroughly to create an even, ready-to-use coco substrate. Its volume increases from 10.26–11.34 litres when compressed to as much as 70 litres.

Washed and buffered for controlled growing conditions

UGro washes the coco substrate in clean, salt-free water and buffers it before compression. It has a pH range of 5.5–6.5 and an EC below 0.6 mS/cm when measured at a ratio of 1:1.5. These low starting values provide a controllable foundation for subsequent nutrient management. Feeding can be adjusted to suit the coco medium, crop and current stage of development.

High moisture retention with a useful substrate structure

The fine blend of coco peat and coir fibres is designed to retain moisture effectively. According to the manufacturer, its water-holding capacity is 60–65%. This helps keep moisture available around the root zone, while the fibres contribute to the physical structure of the medium. Irrigation frequency should still be adapted to the plant, container size, climate and growing system.

A peat-free medium for flexible applications

This plant-based substrate is peat-free and manufactured in India. The manufacturer states that it is free from soil pathogens, odours, roots and other impurities.
