Plagron Lightmix with perlite, 50 litres, is a ready-to-use, peat-based growing medium for planting and repotting flowering plants. It is only lightly pre-fertilised with mineral nutrients, making it suitable when you want to manage the feeding programme yourself after a brief initial supply. This combines straightforward use with plenty of flexibility for your own nutrient schedule.

Perlite improves aeration and drainage

The base of carefully selected peat types and different fibres is supplemented with 10% perlite. This creates a more aerated structure, allows water to drain more freely and increases the oxygen available within the root zone. The structure supports the development of new roots, particularly when planting young plants or repotting established ones.

Brief initial supply of mineral nutrients

Lightmix is pre-fertilised with 1.5 kg/m³ of mineral fertiliser at an NPK ratio of 12-14-24. This initial nutrient supply is intended to last for approximately one week. As the mineral nutrients can be absorbed directly by the roots, they do not first require conversion by soil organisms. After the first week, you can begin regular feeding and adapt it to the development stage and visible requirements of your plants.

Low EC level for controlled further feeding

The EC level is 0.8–1.4 mS/cm at a 1:1.5 measurement ratio. The comparatively low nutrient concentration helps avoid unnecessary strain on young roots while leaving room to manage subsequent feeding. Plagron recommends Terra Grow and Terra Bloom as suitable mineral base nutrients. You should monitor pH and EC during cultivation, as both values influence nutrient availability and uptake.
