Philips SON-T Green Power 600W for high-output HPS grow lighting

The Philips SON-T Green Power, HPS 600W is a high-pressure sodium lamp designed for horticultural lighting. Philips currently lists the version with the same EAN as the MASTER GreenPower CG T 600W E40. Its 2000 K colour temperature produces a warm yellow to red-biased spectrum, making it particularly suitable for flowering and fruiting stages. It is aimed at growers using a conventional high-output HPS system with an E40 lamp holder. Other options are available in the range of HPS grow lamps.

GreenPower technology for horticultural lighting

Philips developed the GreenPower range for horticultural applications. The clear T46 outer bulb and growth-light-optimised performance make this lamp suitable for established HPS grow lighting systems. It has a correlated colour temperature of 2000 K and a rated luminous efficacy of 142.4 lm/W. Its universal operating position also provides flexibility when installing the lamp in compatible reflector designs.

E40 base and suitable ballast required

As a high-intensity discharge lamp, the Philips SON-T Green Power requires a suitable HPS ballast and must not be connected directly to the mains supply. Compatible equipment can be found in the ballasts for HPS and MH lamps category. The E40 screw base fits appropriate horticultural lamp holders, including the Euro reflector with E40 socket.

Dimmable operation and long service life

Philips specifies the lamp as dimmable, provided the ballast supports suitable dimming operation and is compatible with the lamp. Rated life to 50 per cent failures is 32,000 hours. With a maximum length of 279 mm and a maximum diameter of 47 mm, it uses the familiar tubular format of high-output single-ended HPS lamps.
