Knauf Perlite Peligran Classic, 100 litres, is a mineral soil amendment made from expanded natural perlite rock. The lightweight, porous granules are mixed into soils and growing media to improve their air and water balance. PERLIGRAN Classic is suitable for home gardeners, growers and professional horticultural users who want to create more open, free-draining and structurally stable growing mixes.

Porous particles for air and moisture around the roots

The 0–6 mm particles have an evenly porous structure. This allows the perlite to retain water and distribute moisture through capillary action whilst maintaining air spaces and helping excess water drain through the growing medium. Good rewettability is also useful when a mix has dried more substantially between irrigations. Other mineral growing-media additives can be found in the range of perlite for plant substrates.

For potting mixes, beds and heavier soils

Knauf primarily specifies PERLIGRAN Classic as an amendment for hobby and commercial growing media. The granules can be incorporated into potting and horticultural mixes as well as heavier or wetter garden soils where additional aeration and structural stability are required. Its mineral structure remains stable and helps reduce compaction. With an average pH of approximately 7 and chemically inert properties, it can be incorporated into a wide range of growing-media formulations.

Choosing between Classic and screened perlite

PERLIGRAN Classic is designed as a versatile soil and growing-media amendment. If you need a double-screened, dust-free 2–6 mm grade that Knauf also specifies for standalone soilless use, Knauf Perlite Peligran Premium is the more suitable option. For larger growing-media requirements, PERLIGRAN Classic is also available as a pallet of 24 × 100-litre bags.
