400 W high-pressure sodium lamp with a warm spectrum for flowering

The GIB Flower Spectre 400W HPS lamp is a high-pressure sodium grow lamp designed primarily for flowering and fruit development. Its 2,000 K colour temperature produces the warm spectrum associated with HPS flowering lights. The spectrum also includes an increased blue component to support vegetative plant development. It is therefore suited to growers using a conventional 400 W HPS lighting system with an E40 lamp holder.

54,500 lumens and 720 µmol/s PPF

At a lamp power of 400 W, the Flower Spectre provides a luminous flux of 54,500 lm after 100 operating hours. Its photosynthetic photon flux is 720 µmol/s PPF. The 2,000 K colour temperature places the emphasis on warm light suitable for flowering applications. E40 base for conventional HPS lighting systems

The lamp uses an E40/45 base and fits lamp holders designed for this type of discharge lamp. For directing the light over the growing area, it can be combined with a suitable reflector with an E40 fitting. A correctly specified ballast and ignitor system is required to operate an HPS lamp. The lamp itself has a nominal operating voltage of 230 V and an operating current of 4.5 A.

Operation and lamp construction

The clear tubular outer jacket is made from hard glass, and the lamp can be used in any burning position. Run-up time is approximately five minutes, while reignition of a bare lamp takes around one to two minutes after switching off. The manufacturer also recommends switching the lamp off for at least 15 minutes each week. Maximum overall length is 292 mm, the outer jacket diameter is 46 mm and the lamp weighs 195 g.
