Living granite, a master of camouflage
Living granite is a succulent species from the dry areas of South Africa. It copes with very little water and care, but needs pots at least 10 cm deep for its taproot. Since it is interesting for many animals in its native country as a water supplier, this plant camouflages itself as a stone. If you create favourable conditions for the living granite, you can even enjoy quite large flowers in summer and autumn.
Moringa - flowering all-rounder
Originally from India, the horseradish tree (Moringa oleifera) is now cultivated almost worldwide in tropical and subtropical regions and is often grown as a beneficial plant, but it also makes an excellent ornamental plant. High-quality oil can be pressed from its seeds, the leaves are used in Asia for juice diets and the young fruits are eaten like green beans. As an ornamental plant, it delights the owner with golden flowers that spread the scent of honey.
An undemanding beauty - the desert rose
The desert rose, which originates from the steppe regions of Africa, is a real eye-catcher and grows over four meters high in its native country. Like most succulents, it is quite undemanding when it comes to care and soil, although it does enjoy a sunny and warm location. The desert rose forms a conspicuously thick stem and bears magnificent pink flowers in summer. In Africa, the sap from the roots and stems is used, among other things, to make arrow poison for hunting.
