Germination and Growing:
The seeds of this plant need temperatures between 15 and 20° to germinate. Until germination, the seeds should always be kept slightly moist, regardless of whether you pre-germinate them or germinate the seeds directly in or on potting soil. It is generally helpful to use a heated mini-greenhouse to increase the germination rate and to provide the seedlings with a favourable climate for their first growth phase. After about 3 to 12 days you should be able to spot the first seedlings.
Really Tasty and Decorative - the Sweet Dumpling
Although this variety belongs to the small pumpkins, it is in no way inferior to others in terms of taste. Its somewhat sweet pumpkin flavour with a slight hint of chestnut aroma makes the Sweet Dumpling an extremely popular edible pumpkin. You can prepare it like roast potatoes, create delicious soups with it, process the flesh into puree and even use it raw in salads. Thanks to its long shelf life and eye-catching colouring, the sweet dumpling also makes a good autumn decoration. After around 100 days of ripening, you can harvest up to 9 of these delicious fruits per plant if you are lucky. The sunnier the location and the more nutritious the soil, the richer your yield will be. Especially in hot summers, you should make sure that your pumpkin plants get enough water.
