Targeted calcium supplementation for soft water and soil-based growing
Green House Powder Feeding Calcium is a water-soluble mineral calcium supplement containing 9% chelated calcium. It is designed for situations where the water or growing medium does not provide sufficient calcium. This makes it particularly useful with reverse-osmosis water, rainwater and other very soft water sources. The manufacturer primarily recommends the product for cultivation in soil and peat-based substrates.
EDTA-chelated calcium for a stable nutrient solution
The calcium is supplied in an EDTA-chelated form. Chelation binds the calcium ion and helps keep it stable in solution. According to the manufacturer, Green House Powder Feeding Calcium can be mixed with fertilisers containing sulphates or phosphates without causing the calcium to precipitate. Calcium contributes to strong cell walls and plant structure while supporting cell division, root development and nutrient transport.
Adjust the dosage to your water and growing medium
The recommended dosage is 0.5–1.0 g per litre of water. The amount actually required depends primarily on water hardness and the calcium already present in the substrate. With RO and very soft water, use the recommended values as a guide, while soft or moderately hard water requires correspondingly less supplementation. The manufacturer advises against adding extra calcium when using hard water or calcium-rich soil. Suitable EC meters help you keep an eye on your nutrient solution.
Designed for soil, with CalMag preferred for hydro and coco
The manufacturer recommends this calcium supplement primarily for soil and peat-based substrates. For coco, rockwool and hydroponic systems, Green House Feeding CalMag is recommended instead. Calcium can be combined with mineral nutrients from the wider Green House Feeding range. For foliar application, the manufacturer specifies 0.5 g/L and advises applying it under low light intensity or shortly before the grow lights are switched off.
