So the pH electrode stays moist and measures accurately
If the measuring electrode of an electronic pH meter dries out regularly, measurement results can become less accurate. A storage solution keeps the electrode wetted between uses and supports consistent measurement results.
Proper cleaning and storage can significantly extend the service life of the electrode. This storage solution is designed to keep the sensitive measuring tip moist – especially important when measuring frequently.
Application
Typical procedure:
- After measurement, briefly rinse the electrode (to remove residues).
- Place the electrode into the protective cap or storage container.
- Add enough solution to ensure the measuring tip remains fully moistened.
- Close the cap or container tightly.
For meters with a watertight protective cap, a few drops can be added directly into the cap. The key factor is not the quantity, but ensuring the electrode remains permanently moist (e.g. with devices such as the ADWA AD11).
Important notes
- The storage solution does not replace regular calibration of the pH meter.
- For electrode storage only – not intended as a cleaning or calibration solution.
- Keep the solution clean and avoid contamination.
