A compressed COGr coco slab for a manageable root zone

The Canna COGr compressed slab, 100 × 15 cm, is a dry coco growing medium designed for use in COGr systems. Its coarse structure helps maintain a practical balance between moisture and air around the roots. It is suitable for growers who want to manage irrigation and nutrition precisely while keeping their unused substrate compact and easy to store.

Coarse blend of different coconut materials

The slab contains coconut flakes, coco fibres and coco granulate. Together, these materials create an open substrate structure capable of holding substantial amounts of moisture, nutrients and air at the same time. The fibres help stabilise the medium, while the coarser particles maintain air spaces around the roots. This combines useful moisture retention with aeration throughout the root zone.

Buffer and expand the slab before planting

The COGr slab is supplied dry, compressed and unbuffered. Before use, prepare it with CANNA COGr Buffer Agent. The manufacturer recommends a dilution ratio of 1:500 and a pH between 5.5 and 5.8. Apply approximately 12.5 litres of prepared buffering solution to each slab, then leave the substrate to condition for 24 hours. During this period, the slab absorbs the liquid and expands. Allow excess solution to drain before cutting the required drainage slits and planting openings.

Suitable for slab systems and growing pots

The prepared COGr slab can be placed directly into a suitable slab-growing system. Alternatively, the buffered and expanded coco can be removed from its wrapping and transferred into plant pots. With thorough cleaning between crops, the robust substrate can be reused up to three times according to the manufacturer. This makes it suitable for repeat growing cycles where a consistent, manageable coco structure is required.
