Calcium has various tasks in a plant. It serves as an elementary building block and has many other roles, including improving the rigidity of the cell walls. Calcium supports the formation of a healthy cell membrane. In the late growth phase, calcium encourages the ripening process, as it counteracts the permeability determined by potassium. Sufficient availability of calcium improves cell division, which can make the difference between a good and bad yield. Bio Nova Ca-15 contains 15% pure calcium (Ca), 3% nitrogen (N), and trace elements such as iron, copper, and manganese.
Generally, possible calcium deficiencies in the fruit and the soil manifest themselves differently. The bloom transpires less water than the leaves, which means that less calcium is able to reach the bloom. A nutrient disturbance in the calcium supply is a potential risk when there is very fast and strong plant growth.
Note: Irregular fertilisation and irrigation may make a calcium deficit more likely. The manufacturer recommends a dosage of 2.5-10 ml per 10 litres of irrigation water.
Note: Calcium takes effect immediately and is used to combat blossom end rot in tomatoes, for example. Bio Nova Ca-15 can also be used for foliar feeding. Ca-15 does not alter the pH value.
