AutoPot AQUAbox Straight Extension Kit

With the AutoPot AQUAbox Straight Expansion Kit, you can add another irrigation station to your existing AQUAbox system – ideal for evenly and low-maintenance irrigation of longer (raised) beds, large planters, or oversized containers.

Connection is made via the included 9 mm T-connector, installed directly into the existing 9 mm supply line of your already installed AQUAbox. This allows you to continue using the same tank/reservoir. AQUAbox Straight and AQUAbox Spyder units can be freely combined depending on bed shape and layout.

The system operates without electricity: water (and, if required, nutrient solution) is supplied purely by gravity from a reservoir. The AQUAbox Straight is manufactured in the UK from recycled plastic, and the AQUAbox system is endorsed by the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society).

How It Works

Inside the unit, the AQUAvalve5 acts as the “heart” of the system: it only releases water when the plants have used what is available. The valve works on a flood-and-drain principle, automatically regulating the water level (typically up to approx. 20 mm) before closing again. Moisture is then distributed underground in the root zone via the capillary mat.

Setup & Operation Tips

• For reliable gravity operation, position the reservoir higher: rule of thumb is approx. 15 cm (6") above the AQUAbox or the highest valve in the system.
• Lay the capillary mat with a slight downward slope away from the AQUAbox – this supports even distribution of water/nutrient solution.
• Do not cover the AQUAbox lid with soil: it should sit above the final soil level, remain closed, and stay accessible (e.g. for inspection or cleaning).
• During prolonged outdoor rainfall, temporarily shut off the water supply (e.g. via tank tap or inline shut-off valve).

Expansion in Larger Systems

Multiple AQUAboxes (Straight/Spyder) can be operated from a single reservoir – the practical limits are mainly defined by tank capacity and sensible pipe routing. For systems with many connected boxes, a 16 mm main line from the tank is recommended, with individual 9 mm lines branching off to each AQUAbox.
