Germination and growing:

The seeds of this plant need a warm environment and high humidity to germinate. Until germination, the seeds should always be kept slightly moist and only lightly pressed into the substrate (light germination). It is generally helpful to use a heated mini-greenhouse to increase the germination rate and to provide the seedlings with a favourable climate for their first growth phase. After about 2 to 5 weeks you should see the first seedlings. Before germination, the seeds need an artificial winter - just put them in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks.

Useful and pretty insect trap - 100% organic

The Cape sundew is one of the sticky traps and is quite easy to cultivate. Since the seeds are delivered directly with a substrate suitable for "carnivorous" plants, you don't need to worry about the right soil. If your sundew has a sunny spot, it will grow quickly after germination and produce its first flowers after only a few months. In order to be able to develop its sticky tentacles, the sundew needs a humidity of at least 40 %, if necessary you can spray it carefully with soft water from time to time. The tentacles exude an irresistible scent for small flying insects such as fruit flies and annoying mosquitoes. When they are approached, the insects stick to them and are then digested by the plant through enzymes. In winter, you should put the Cape sundew in a cool and bright place indoors.
