Description

A little ballast with a lot of options: The dimmable 250W from Lumatek. Four output levels: 150W, 175W, 250W & 275W

The clever option when choosing a ballast in the low output range is the dimmable Lumatek 250W. Unlike the 250W Lumatek with a Superlumen switch, you can also operate suitable HPS and metal halide lamps at 150W, or you can also ?dim down? 250W HPS lamps to the lower output levels. As such, you can adjust the light output for more light-sensitive phases of the plant's life, while reducing power consumption at the same time.

The popular 'superlumen function? presents itself in the form of the fourth output level, and delivers a light output increase of around 10% (like the Lumatek Superlumen switch).

According to the manufacturer, the Lumatek 250W generates up to 27% higher light output (lumens) with a generally low level of power consumption, and operates silently. Even in long-term operation, the device will only become lukewarm and has an automatic interrupt mechanism for increased safety in case of a short or power surge.

A ballast is crucial when operating grow lighting, such as HPS or metal halide lamps, in order to convert the power source so that it may be used by the lamp. Depending on the type of plant and the light cycle, ballasts are required for 8 to 24 hours per day, which is why you should avoid using less efficient products for this purpose.

Conventional (non-electronic) ballasts waste a large proportion of the energy consumed as useless heat, experience a reduction in performance over time, and can even catch fire (e.g. through extended use).

Electronic ballasts control start phases and performance output via microprocessors, which improves the lamp performance and means that less energy is wasted as heat.

Thanks to the 4 different output levels, the Lumatek 250W can be operated with both 150W HPS lamps (at the 150W or 175W levels) and 250W HPS lamps (at all four levels). The device also allows the use of metal halide lamps, however they can not be dimmed and must be operated at their respective performance level! (e.g. 250W MH = 250W setting on the ballast, or with the Superlumen switch set to ?off?).

As the Lumatek 250W is delivered complete with fixed cable connectors (each approx. 4m), you only need to connect the light fixtures before putting it into operation.

Features of the Lumatek 250W:

? Generates little heat
? Conserves lamps using soft-start / no flickering when in operation
? More lumens per watt in the long-term / even with older lamps
