Jalapenos come from Mexico and are very popular there. They are found in almost all dishes and spicy salsas there. The jalapeno early chilli tastes aromatic even when green and is well suited to eating raw due to its slightly lower heat. With increasing maturity and red colouring, the sweetness of the pod increases and the taste becomes even rounder. A big advantage of the Jalapeno Early is the early ripeness of the fruits, sometimes (in sunny summers) the first harvest can be harvested after a good 50 days. If you notice dark spots and elongated small cracks on the fruits, don't worry. This is normal for this variety and is not a flaw. These jalapenos have a very juicy flesh and you can even smoke them, as is popular in Mexico and Texas. Then you have original chipotle, as they have been preserved in South America for thousands of years.

Germination and growing

To get this variety to germinate, you should provide them with an environment with a temperature between 22 and 28 °C. A heated greenhouse is ideal for this. Whether you pre-germinate the seeds in two layers of kitchen roll or let them grow directly in soil is entirely up to you. When you place the seedlings in pots, you should use a well-fertilised and airy soil and make sure that the water does not accumulate. Chilli plants need a lot of sun for their development and certain minimum temperatures for the ripening of the fruits. Therefore, place them in a suitable spot where they will get at least 6-8 hours of sun and plant them in pots rather than flower pots. This makes it easier to bring them indoors in early autumn on days with temperatures below 12 °C - so the fruits can still ripen despite the sometimes long ripening period.
